Winning the Venus Award Lifetime Achievement category was an amazing experience. My charity was boosted and more people understood the reasons why I do what I do. Although I never take money from my fundraising, all proceeds go to where it is needed most, I have had more people contact me after hearing about my work and have met so many people through the Venus awards events who have become friends and I know spread the word about my passion and that is helping those with cancer.
Personally, I have gained many friends and also my confidence had a major boost. Being nominated is great for your CV, and winning is actually the only thing you need on your CV, says it all actually. Its been a journey that has made people aware of what I do, and that helps.
The Venus Awards has not only brought many great woman together, but it also has given a good feel within the city of Southampton as well as other major cities.
Every woman who runs, owns or works in a business with responsibilities need to be recognized. I urge those ladies to go for it, nominate someone they know who deserves the recognition too. It will truly make a difference to your life, and when I look at my award, I feel warm and appreciated.
