Hampshire Venus Awards 2017 in association with Peter Cooper Motor Group and Wightlink announce winners at grand ceremony!
Winners of the Hampshire Venus Awards 2017 in association with Peter Cooper Motor Group and Wightlink were announced at a Grand Ceremony and Gala Dinner at The Spark, Southampton Solent University on Saturday 11th November 2017.
Over 350 guests that included Finalists and Sponsors attended the glamorous Grand Ceremony and Gala Dinner of the Hampshire Venus Awards 2017 in association with Peter Cooper Motor Group and Wightlink at The Spark in Southampton Solent University on Saturday 11th November 2017.
Competition has been strong in the new super-size region that spans Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, Basingstoke and the Isle of Wight with over 1500 nominations and applications received in one or more of the 15 categories. Launched in April this year, participants have been whittled down to the Winners stage through a combination of sponsor and public judging.
The Venus Awards – dubbed by Channel 4 as “The Working Women’s Oscars” – celebrate the vital contribution that women in business make to the local, regional, and national economy, and are unique in that anyone can nominate a friend, client or family member.
Michael Kurn, TV Presenter and Broadcaster, was the evening’s compere and the hosts for the evening’s celebrations were Tara Howard, founder of Venus Awards and Mims Davies, local Eastleigh MP.
Guests soaked in the atmosphere as they enjoyed a three-course dinner and entertainment from Nathan James, best known for his performances on The Voice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Superstar, who brought the wow factor to the evening.
Every Sponsor emphasised in their speeches the outstanding calibre of their category Finalists when presenting the winner with the “Venus” trophy.
Marketing Manager Karen Clarkson, who accepted the Venus Award for Company of the Year on behalf of Warner Goodman, commented,
“While we were collating the information for our award entry, we were so pleased to see the success women have had in our business; over two thirds of our employees are women, four out of six of our Business Heads are women, 20 out of 24 Associates are women, and there are many more examples. While the awards celebrate women in business, as a firm we truly believe in equality for all, ensuring our opportunities for development are available to all our employees and that their potential is recognised and nurtured. This has become a natural part of Warner Goodman so to be rewarded for that is a proud moment.”
Kate Underwood of Kate Underwood HR & Training who this year sponsored the Small Business category, said of their involvement with the Hampshire Venus Awards,
“I love sponsoring the small business category. I have a small business myself and so I had to learn many hacks. With that in mind I looked for a small business that not only had a great attitude but was also well rounded in finance, marketing, sales and very people focused. This was not an easy decision to make. I had to spend a lot of time with my finalists to be able to choose as all of them are so inspiring.”
Colin Breckenridge of bandv who this year sponsored the Marketing and PR Award, said of their involvement with the Hampshire Venus Awards,
“Fantastic event! Massive thank you to Tara, David, the entire Venus Team and Solent University for this fantastic evening. This is the second time we have sponsored Venus Awards and we are really pleased. We find it a great value for a business and the experience of being involved in the whole selection is great. We have met some fantastic young women particularly in the Marketing and PR field.”
Charity sponsor for the inaugural Hampshire Venus Awards is Countess Mountbatten Hospice that serves people with life-limiting illnesses across a community in excess of 720,000 and a catchment spanning 460 square miles. The Ceremony saw the guests help raise an amazing £3000 for the charity.
Winners will progress to the Venus Awards National Finals to be held in the summer of 2018.
