My nomination for the Venus Awards has given much benefit to the charity that I work for. It has allowed a great deal of publicity for us in many publications and social media as we have been mentioned in numerous articles and spreads which has greatly helped to build awareness.
My journey from initially learning about the Venus Awards (after I was nominated by my colleagues) to winning the Dorset award and then the National finals was such an amazing experience. It allowed me to meet many inspiring people, to make new contacts, to grow in confidence and learn that many more things are possible.
It also reaffirmed my decision 20 years ago when I left art college to change direction and go back to college to train in admin and secretarial skills. My daughter, as an observer of the process has even been inspired to be in the next generation of successful women in business.
I would and do tell others to become involved, whether it is by nominating someone who has shown that they have that something special, accepting a nomination made by someone for you, or by becoming a sponsor of the Awards, because the positivity and huge potential for self-growth in being a part of the Venus Awards journey can be absolutely amazing.
